Special Election Called

| The Governor has declared a special election to fill the vacated seat of Justice of the Peace (District D). The primary election will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012, and the general election will be Saturday, April 21, 2012. Qualifying will be held December 7, 2011, through December 9, 2011. |

2011-Special Effort to Recreate Records for Preservation

Our records date back to 1880 with a few exceptions. Microfilm has been used for many years as a
tool for reproducing our records and storing offsite in case the courthouse is
destroyed-a practice which we will continue to incorporate into the storage
process. Due to advancement in digital
technology, we are taking great strides in digitizing our records to be
preserved as images-easily retrievable and sufficiently secure. From court records to cash deeds, from
mortgages to marriage licenses, we want you to know that your records are safe
and secure, and we look forward to transitioning this process with modern
